Commission Fédérale des Marchés Financiers (CFMF)
|
The Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission (CBFA) warns the public against the activities of the Commission Fédérale des Marchés Financiers (CFMF).
According to information available to the CBFA, the Commission Fédérale des Marchés Financiers presents itself as the Belgian supervisor for the “supervision of banks and financial services providers, insurance undertakings and securities trading”. It claims to be located in Brussels, and uses the following web site: www.cfmf.govt.be.
The CFMF is unknown to the CBFA. It improperly presents itself as a Belgian financial supervisor. The institution appears to be used as a front in order to lend an impression of trustworthiness to certain investments offered to the public by persons who do not have the requisite authorization in Belgium. The CBFA doubts the trustworthiness of investments offered to the public by any company that claims to be recognized by the CFMF.
Anyone wishing more generally to enquire as to the regularity of any proposed transaction can find further information on the “Consumer Protection” page of the CBFA web site (www.cbfa.be) or by contacting the “Protection of Consumers of Financial Services” Department (telephone: +32 2 220 59 10; email: peri@cbfa.be). |
