Commission de Régulation des Marchés Financiers (CRMF)
|
The Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission (CBFA) warns the public against the activities of the Commission de Régulation des Marchés Financiers (CRMF).
According to information available to the CBFA, the Commission de Régulation des Marchés Financiers presents itself as the Belgian supervisor for commodities and futures markets in Belgium and supervisor of the stock exchange. It claims to have its seat in Brussels. On its web site (www.crmf.govt.be), it claims to be approved by the Belgian government.
The CRMF is unknown to the CBFA. It improperly presents itself as a Belgian financial supervisor. The institution appears to be used as a front in order to lend an impression of trustworthiness to certain investments offered to the public by persons who do not have the requisite authorization in Belgium. The CBFA doubts the trustworthiness of investments offered to the public by any company that claims to be recognized by the CRMF.
Anyone wishing more generally to enquire as to the regularity of any proposed transaction can find further information on the “Consumer Protection” page of the CBFA web site (www.cbfa.be) or by contacting the “Protection of Consumers of Financial Services” Department (telephone: +32 2 220 59 10; email: peri@cbfa.be).
